    What is Hungry Rush?
    Hungry Rush is a family-run Kiwi store and takeaway in Ohakune, run by Angus and Sara Rush. We cook handmade Kiwi classics on site — no shortcuts, no mucking around.
    What kind of food does Hungry Rush serve?
    Hungry Rush serves smashed beef burgers, fresh Tarakihi fish & chips, slow-cooked pork Cubano toasties, loaded fries, vege options, sweet treats and classic Kiwi drinks. Most items are GFO / DFO (gluten-free option / dairy-free option).
    Who runs Hungry Rush?
    Angus and Sara Rush. Both grew up in hospo families and built the store around handmade Kiwi food and friendly local service.
    Is the food made fresh?
    Yes. Beef is ground on site, Tarakihi is fresh from Eastrock on the East Coast, and bacon comes from Ohakune Butchers. Everything is handmade in the store.

    What are the main menu categories?

    What's the most popular item?
    The Burger and the house-made Ghost Chips are the signature items at Hungry Rush, alongside the Cubano Toasty and the Cookie Doughnut.
    Do you have vegetarian options?
    Yes — see the Vege category on the Hungry Rush menu. It includes the Cheese Toasty and the No Meat Burger.
    Do you have gluten-free or dairy-free options?
    Most menu items are marked GFO (gluten-free option) or DFO (dairy-free option). Ask in the store for the latest list.
    What drinks do you serve?
    Freshly squeezed lemonades, passionade, LL&B, signature hot or cold chocolate, Frosty Boy thick shakes and Altura barista coffee.
    Are prices shown online?

    Do the seasonal specials change?
    Yes. The "With the Seasons" category rotates with winter and summer specials — check the board in the store for the current creation.

    Yes. Call 022 509 6861 to order ahead and pick up from the Hungry Rush store at 49 Clyde St, Ohakune.
    Do you deliver?
    There is no standard delivery service. Orders are pickup from the store. Delivery is only arranged as part of a confirmed catering booking.
    Can I customise my order?
    Yes — let us know when you order. Ask in the store or mention any tweaks when you call.

    Hungry Rush serves Ohakune township and the surrounding Ruapehu / Central Plateau region, including visitors heading to Mt Ruapehu, Tūroa, Whakapapa and Tongariro National Park.
    What are your opening hours?
    Hungry Rush is open Wednesday to Thursday 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM, Friday 12:00 PM – 8:30 PM, Saturday 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.
    Are you open on weekends?
    Open Saturday 12:00 PM – 7:30 PM. Closed Sunday.

    How do I get a catering quote?
    Open the contact form, choose "Catering / private event" and tell us the event date, location, approximate guest count and what kind of food you're after. We confirm the menu, pricing and logistics in writing for every event.
    Can you cater large groups?
    Yes — the catering enquiry form lets you select guest counts from under 20 up to 200+. Get in touch and we'll come back to you.
